The apparel industry is one of the most important sectors of the Hungarian economy. The value of clothing exported from Hungary in 2019 amounted to 25 billion U.S. dollars. Women’s suits, brassieres, women’s undergarments, overcoats, and men’s suits are some of the clothing products that were exported the most from Hungary in 2019.
Hungary is a great destination for clothing manufacturing thanks to its strong pool of workers, low cost of production, and moderate level of salaries. Some companies from other European countries prefer to manufacture their apparel from Hungary to reduce their cost of production. Hungarian wages are significantly lower than in most Western Europe countries.
Other factors that are driving the apparel industry in Hungary include raw material quality, high-tech machinery, increasing value addition, and dynamic production capacity.
Hungary is a great place for apparel manufacturing companies to open production lines. The country offers a highly skilled labor force with moderate level wages. Also, it is easy for foreign countries to open production lines in the country as the Hungarian government welcomes foreign direct investments.
